No screens, no server farms: Inside Alchymia’s holographic pocket computer

Alchymia is reimagining artificial intelligence architecture to run frontier models locally without massive server farms or screens. Founded by Ayomide Daniels, the startup has developed the Alchymia Bar, a screenless pocket-sized device designed for resource-constrained markets across Africa and Asia.

As foundational artificial intelligence models demand increasingly massive energy profiles and multi-billion-dollar data centers, startup Alchymia is pursuing a different approach. Founded by Ayomide Daniels, the company focuses on model architecture to reduce underlying compute and power requirements, enabling advanced intelligence to run directly on compact hardware.

Redesigning Model Architecture for Resource Efficiency Rather than optimizing existing AI frameworks, Alchymia went back to the underlying design of foundational models. The goal is to make high-level artificial intelligence accessible in regions across Africa and Asia that lack outsized balance sheets or unlimited server farms.

Architecture over Data Centers: Redesigning AI models to operate efficiently without relying on cloud server farms or heavy energy draw.

Localized Compute: Enabling local execution of artificial intelligence suited for energy-constrained infrastructure.

Hardware Innovation: Developing the Alchymia Bar, a small, screenless pocket computer built to run the company's AI locally.

Democratising Frontier AI Across Emerging Markets By removing dependencies on expensive data center hardware, Alchymia aims to bring intelligent computing tools directly to consumers and developers in emerging markets.
